Quirk: Metal Suit - Lysander can draw forward a protective exoskeleton of metal armor and sword, at will. He is able to cover his entire body with the armor or choose the parts selectively (for example, just around his fist when in a fight). The suit is strong and solid, but not invincible; it can be dented and broken. Fortunately though, the suit repairs itself with time. Time depending on the severity of the damage. [break][break]

Lysander stands at an even six foot, and while his frame is built with a noticeable amount of wiry muscle, he tends toward a lanky, beanpole appearance. His hair, inky black in color, is cut fairly short and he will usually keep it styled and presentable with a bit of product. He can be a bit finnicky about his hair, so if it's a little too messy for his liking, he'll usually throw a hat over it to keep it hidden. His eyes are brown and his face and body marred by various scars (which is what happens when a literal child inherits a quirk that comes with a fucking sword!) [break][break]

The body of Lysander's suit is silver and white in most places, with bits of darker gray in the joints, gloves, and "fleshy" areas. It's decorated throughout with ornaments of bright, luminescent green. The helmet, when he chooses to conjure it, has a v-cut, green-colored visage and a gray ribbon that tails from the back. [attr="class","abox"](NOTE: Lysander suffers from a dissociative identity disorder, a sort of side effect he developed in his youth to endure extensive abuse. No one actually knows that Lark, Lysander's alter, exists, as he is careful in keeping this secret. Even in instances where Lark manages to take over, Lark is usually pretty good about keeping the secret as well (as in he won't call himself Lark, won't tell others what's happening, etc), and Lysander will usually just say he was a little out of it after he regains control. Lark acts almost as a different consciousness for Lysander. Their personalities are wildly different and Lysander does not have memory of what happens when Lark is "dominant". As a child, switching between himself and Lark was uncontrollable and extreme. But it's been many years, and now Lysander can normally keep Lark from taking over. However, if he is in danger, startled, or triggered by some sort of extreme violence or abuse, Lark can gain the upper hand with little struggle. [break][break]

While Lark is dominant, Lysander is usually "asleep". Tucked carefully away to be protected as always. But when Lark is not the dominant personality, Lysander can always feel his presence at the back of his mind, and the two sometimes "speak" to one another. They can go from a mutual dislike to, surprisingly, a grudging friendship. After many years, they've managed to find a peaceful (though sometimes strained) co-existence. Usually Lark just exists to make snide comments in Lysander's mind. There are also times when Lark begs to be allowed to take over, to which Lysander might reply with a resounding "no, now please shut up".[break][break]

Lysander considers himself to be a good guy. He likes to think of Lark as a completely different person — to separate himself entirely from the things Lark does — but sometimes he struggles with the fact that Lark is a part of him. That the alter is actually a dark part of himself that he can't embrace, capable of terrible things that he chooses not to remember in order to avoid accountability.) [break][break]

✓ HIGH ENERGY - If anything, Lysander is entertaining. He's always ready to get up and go! You can count on him to always say "Yes, let's do it!" to any proposition you throw his way. Not often is something "too much" for him to take on. He's excitable, adventure-seeking, and has a way of pulling everyone around him into the fun. And whatever he does, he does full-heartedly. He never does anything half-assed and pours himself completely into whatever is going on. [break][break]

✓ INTUITIVE - A quick thinker on his feet, Lysander has good instincts that he doesn't hesitate to trust. When his gut tells him something, he listens, and his gut seems to have a keen understanding of people and their intentions. This has always served Lysander well, as his profession has a way of pitting him with all walks of life, some more questionable than others.[break][break]

✓ EMOTIONALLY-PERCEPTIVE - Lysander tends to pick up on when someone isn't feeling well or if something is going on with them. And though he does often act on this empathy... there's usually a line that needs crossed before Lysander feels his intervention is wanted and/or required. He does handle emotional or sensitive situations well, it just sometimes takes him awhile before he's assured he has the right to handle them, or that his doing so won't be too inappropriately-imposing. He can often approach these things too cautiously. He can sometimes overestimate the independence of others or how good a simple conversation or a gesture of compassion/concern might be to someone.[break][break]

✓ POLITE - Lysander is a well-mannered man and always has been. He's kind and courteous. Considerate and respectful, but less in an overly-refined way and more casually.[break][break]

✓ GENEROUS - Lysander can be very giving to those people he considers close to him. Emotionally perceptive as he is, he oft picks up what a person is wanting or needing and is usually willing and versatile enough to allow himself to be exactly that, or to provide that. He's generous with his words, his gestures, and his attention, and it's never an empty gift or action. Everything is chosen or done for a reason and given genuinely. [break][break]

✓ SELF-PRESERVING - When it all boils down, Lark came to be out of need to protect Lysander. Not much has changed since that creation. Although Lark would like nothing to more than to get in a whole bunch of trouble, he doesn't like to leave a mess for Lysander to handle when he "wakes". Although he likes to pick fights and be a menace, he usually won't do things that will hurt Lysander in the long run. Of course, though... Lark isn't always perfect. [break][break]

✓ WILY - Lark is a shrewd son of a bitch. He knows how to play a situation to his advantage and this astuteness (though tempered greatly by his rashness) helps him keep a step ahead of the game, even when making his current move. [break][break]

✓ ADMITTEDLY CHARMING - While Lysander's appeal is that of a benevolent gentleman, Lark can be a forward and suave charmer himself, should he wish it. He knows people fairly well and can be a smooth-talker in order to manipulate someone around his finger. He has much more confidence than Lysander and knows how to wield it. [break][break]

✓ BACKBONED - Where Lysander will let himself be walked all over in order to avoid confrontation, Lark won't hesitate to assert himself and draw a line in the sand. Lark doesn't bend easy and isn't someone to beat back into submission, which can be such a change from Lysander that anyone would be dumbfounded upon attempt. Lysander may be a pushover, but Lark is far from. [break][break]

✘ NON-CONFRONTIVE & TOO FORGIVING - Lysander tends to avoid conflict wherever he can, which isn't such a bad thing in theory, so long as there's a line. But if it means nipping a problem in the bud, Lysander might go to great lengths to appease someone and that can easily become exploitation. He can be a pushover. When it comes to conflict resolution, Lysander would rather forgive and forget than actually fight something out. Even if someone has actually hurt him. This can lead to him being taken advantage of by those close to him, because no matter what they do, they know he'll always take them back.

✘ EVASIVE - Though Lysander is a friendly enough guy, he always seems to maintain some amount of distance. Personal questions or questions about how he's doing or what he's feeling are usually rerouted elsewhere. Or answered indirectly with not much substance. He's not a particularly open individual and it can seem, at times, that he's entirely unwilling to share anything with others. His thoughts, his feelings, his life. He's friendly and loud, but one day you may look at him and realize you don't actually know very much about him. He's superficial.[break][break]

✘ RESTLESS/RECKLESS - Lysander is always looking for the next adventure, no matter how dangerous or foolhardy. He's quick to leap at any promise of fun/thrill, even the most dumb and risky of propositions. He's got a nose for trouble and it's landed him in hot water plenty of times. Staying idle for too long is a surefire way to get him itching for shenanigans.[break][break]

✘ UNPREDICTABLE - Lysander's a bit of a wild card. You can't always count on him to do what you expect. He is known to act on whim. It's no fun to think every single thing meticulously through before you do it! Even in high-risk or important situations where you definitely should. [break][break]

✘ SCATTER-BRAINED - Sometimes... Lysander has difficulty simply getting things done. He gets distracted, wanders off-task, and procrastinates horribly. He might fully intend on getting that report finished but somehow, three hours later, he's settled in the window with a handheld game and a hot cup of coffee. He'll just get derailed, forget what he was doing, and then pick up something else, only to remember what he'd needed to buckle down and get finished when it's nearly too late. [break][break]

✘ AGRESSIVE - While Lark is capable of thinking ahead and making smart decisions, sometimes he can be too brash and belligerent to stop himself from doing something he'd otherwise find dumb. He's confrontive and always coiled for a fight. Where Lysander isn't able to be goaded or baited, Lark certainly is. He's a short-fuse and can be incredibly impatient. [break][break]

✘ PROMISCOUS - Always a seeker of pleasure, Lark is utterly shameless and hedonistic. Of course, where Lysander considers himself completely straight, Lark stands firmly on the opposite end of the sexuality spectrum. Lark has taken a few lovers to bed who remain strangers to Lysander, which has created a few embarrassing situations for him as well as raised the question of infidelity in Lysander's existing relationships. ✘ SPITEFUL - Lark isn't pure evil or anything, but he's generally pretty mean-spirited. He's pretty liberal with his snide, sharp-tongued comments, and does things to people just to do them. Just to see and feed off their reactions. Plain and simple, he's a malicious little brute at times; a stark contrast to Lysander's more benevolent nature.[break][break]

✘ APATHETIC - Unlike Lysander, Lark has no great reserve of empathy or compassion for other people. In fact, Lark cares for no one other than Lysander himself (and even admitting that, he causes Lysander quite a bit of trouble). [break][break]

✘ WOMAN HATER - Lark doesn't just dislike women. He hates them. Lark came to be because of the abuse Lysander underwent as a child, and his abuser was his mother. Lark never seemed to grow past that, and now he despises all women on sight. Even when he isn't dominant, Lysander will usually have to ignore the snide comments of "slut", "whore", "stupid bitch", etc, that Lark's always muttering when around members of the opposite sex. Lark will often make working with women as hard as possible, which is bound to eventually throw a wrench in Lysander's relationships. Because Lysander does like women. He works with women, has some female friends, and would like to be in a relationship at some point! Lark just can't ever bite his tongue. [break][break]

Lysander was born to a woman in her late thirties that never intended on having children. However, when she discovered she was pregnant, she decided that having a kid could end up being interesting. She was a selfish, narcissistic, and manipulative woman who found little love in her heart for her son once he was born. The baby's father was never listed on his birth certificate, and today Lysander sometimes wonders if his mother hated him so much because of the unknown man. Sometimes he will also wonder why his mother didn't simply give him up for adoption, since it was so obvious she did not want a child. But it's always a pointless question. They're all useless wonderings. His mother, though cruel and hateful, chose to keep her baby, perhaps just to hold and have power over something so vulnerable and absolutely helpless. [break][break]

Lysander doesn't have any memories before he was five years old, so he is thankfully spared the memories of his infancy and toddler years. But a look at his records would show the multiple times he was committed to the hospital for fractured bones, external and internal bruising, among other various atrocities. It would list the numerous times his mother was questioned by CPS; each time the accusations always, miraculously, unfounded. As time went on, his mother continued to abuse him in various ways, each increasingly more sick and unforgiving, as Lysander grew old enough to take it. [break][break]

And so entered Lark. An alter created out of the desperate need to endure the abuse. Named so, for his mother would always call Lysander her "sweet little lark" when she was planning something particularly harsh. Lysander developed a split personality, or what can essentially be considered a separate consciousness. Lark would become dominant because Lark was strong enough to take the abuse; he was steel where Lysander couldn't possibly be. Lark was Lysander's protector. And whenever Lysander would find his way back to dominance and Lark would release the reins, whatever happens to Lark was not remembered by Lysander. It was as if it had happened to someone else. And so Lark also spared Lysander the pain of memory. [break][break]

One day, when Lysander was a little over twelve years old, he came back from one of Lark's episodes to find himself surrounded by firemen and his childhood home (if it could be called a home at all) in flames. It was later ruled by police that Lysander's mother had fallen asleep with a lit cigarette and caused the incident. But the woman was unable to get out of the house and perished in the fire. To this day, Lysander does not know if it was truly a terrible accident, or if Lark had played a part in the flames. But he was at last free from his abuse and soon found himself with a foster family who later decided to officially adopt him.[break][break]

But Lark remained. While at first, the two were in a constant struggle for power and dominance, they eventually came to a sort of begrudging co-existence. Lark's existence is something Lysander keeps secret. His foster family arranged therapy for him after the fire, and upon understanding his memory quirk and eventually figuring there was some childhood abuse in his past. But Lysander never spoke of Lark and the both him and the alter are content in keeping their shared existence between them. Lysander doesn't necessarily like Lark -- he finds him vulgar, dark, and troublesome. But sometimes Lysander struggles with the idea that Lark is actually a part of him. That it is just a malicious part of himself that he won't embrace or accept. Nowadays, the pair have a sort of rocky alliance. Lark still comes to the forefront when Lysander faces danger, violence, or otherwise shuts down, but usually Lysander keeps a firm grip over the unpredictable alter. Lark often "speaks" to him, offering his two-cents whenever possible. [break][break]

The rest of Lysander's life was as normal as possible, given the circumstances. His adopted family was kind and loving, and Lysander adjusted well, all things considered. He was a bright student and a benevolent boy. After graduating high school with commendable grades, he went on to college to earn a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies, then ended up enrolling in the Police Academy. He excelled in all his coursework and leads a fairly average life now in the police force. Though always, Lark seems to have a way of throwing a wrench in things when they start going good.
