Emily's a nineteen year old who got fed up with her parents babying her, jumped ship, and moved away. For awhile she lived in a tiny storage room above some guy's flowershop where she helped out enough to cover boarding. The flowershop owner was also the Grass Gym leader and adopted Emily as his gym substitute. He taught her to battle effectively despite her blindness and when he retired she took his spot as Gym Leader. She moved into the loft above the gym and shares the space with the gym Pokemon and her own Pokemon. She's also taking night classes at the community college (general studies right now, as she isn't sure what exactly she's interested in). Emily's hecka cute and blind, but also super naive and ditsy, so I think you should thread with her and see what comes of it. Help her with math.... make her fall in love with you and be cute little young lovebirds or destroy her little fluttering heart. Manipulate her, convince her to let you break into her parents' house, my pal... just... anything, please. [break][break][break]


Shouldn't be very difficult! Emily likes people and she's generally pretty cool. Not difficult to befriend. Open to going out and trying new things, if she's given no reason not to trust you. If you've got a character around her age who could have attended school in Saldea (where she grew up), I really dig the idea of already having some people she's known for years.

I guess you can hate her if you want, but why??? There could be that general contempt for the typical, coddled youth who comes from wealth? But even then, she's trying to distance herself from that as much as possible. She can be stubborn and a little bit ticked if someone decides to help her, even if it's painfully evident she needs help, and that's a dumb, kinda agitating attitude. If you've just got one of those personalities that doesn't click with her, then I guess it can get out of hand, but she doesn't typically try and start shit. Not to say she doesn't have the capacity to be catty or to hate someone. She certainly could. It would be super fun to explore that side of her.

Emily doesn't have experience here, so this isn't likely to be neat and smooth. She'd probably be pretty receptive to the idea of a relationship, though. Likely to fall hard and fast if given that sort of attention. Someone could sweep her off her feet with no effort at all honestly, she's a dumb girl who could find her Prince Charming in anyone, even if they're an obvious deadbeat asshole to anyone else. She'd be a hot blubbering mess of sweaty palms and embarrassment at first. Go home and scream into her pillow because she said something stupid (or lots of stupid things more like). But if you hung in there, I think Emily would be a super sweet girlfriend. Definitely capable of being jealous though, for sure.

• DAMSEL IN DISTRESS - Emily's walking home from the post office with her new semester books in arm, when it begins to rain! She takes shelter nearby with her Arbok. Mug her or smth, maybe help a girl out, or just wait the downpour out with some company, whatever you want.
• BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S - Emily pays a visit to her usual cafe. She makes her way to her usual booth and plops down. She didn't realize someone was already sitting there! (Emily is blind.) Now this is awkward, hi, how are your pancakes?

DANE WAYLAND

Born into a crime family and raised in the Guild with little censorship even as a little boy, Dane grew up a pretty desensitized kid. Nursed by the nature of his family, this lack of moral standing became apathy, sadism, and unbridled malicious intent. Dane's an intelligent guy, but doesn't give a shit about much of anything, which includes even the Guild and himself. He's hardworking when it suits him, charismatic when he wants to be, and really a fun guy! If you sympathize with his idea of fun, that is. Beat him up or something. Steal his dog, hit on his Mom, or find him walking home drunk and in need of some assistance, I'm up for pretty much anything with this dude. [break][break][break]


If you think Dane's your friend, then you might be... slightly mistaken. Don't get me wrong, there are people he doesn't mind being around and people he can actually enjoy himself with. He is capable of getting along and isn't always a difficult person to hold conversation or drink a beer with. Just... don't expect much from him. Don't think that sharing a laugh or a pleasant conversation is much in his books. He's not the type to genuinely care for anyone. Or even if he does end up caring for someone, I still wouldn't count on him to have your back if there's something more entertaining to do. He can play friendly for awhile, but even that can fall through if he decides it's not that fun anymore.

Yeah, that's fair. Probably not where you want to be, but feel free. There's got to be tons of these. Out of the guild, in the guild, he doesn't care. Let's pull knives on one another, Dane's all about that. Good ole scraps and fist fights. Beat him up, stab him, just give him a shit time.

Why would you want to? Physical gratification is certainly a thing, and Dane could probably play/pretend a little love, if it's not too bad. I wouldn't say it's impossible to snag this guy in a genuine way, but I also wouldn't put any eggs in the "Dane's gonna love me" basket. He can be charming and romantic when he wants to be, but a lot of the time, why would he bother? Who knows though. He could decide it isn't so bad. Or some sharp lady can really blow him away. Who knows, who knows.

Dino Wayland was born into a crime family and raised in the Guild, where he did more than his fair share of terrible, inhumane things. He was a gentle kid though and this beastly lifestyle rode pretty hard on his conscience. Much of his life was spent wishing for desensitization that never came. He escaped the Guild five years ago with the help of a friend who faked his death a year earlier. Now he's your seemingly-average, quiet and kind fella who frequents book and flowershops. Reveling in his insignificance and technical non-existence. He's been working as a lab assistant for the past year. Thread with him, he's a sweetie. Get drunk with him at the bar, he's probably embarrassing as fuck. Or be someone with the Guild who really throws a wrench in his everything. [break][break][break]


Simple enough. Patrick's a good guy (if you forget all that Guild stuff). He'd be a good and caring friend, honestly. Sensible, perceptive... would definitely watch your laptop in a café while you went to pee. He's friendly enough to initiate conversation on his own and all that kinda jazz.

Obviously he isn't going to be buddy-buddying with anyone from the Guild. Patrick's probably got a few of these from his past. He's done a number of terrible things and no doubt many decent people were hurt, directly or indirectly. But he's left that life behind, so if you connect him to some horrible deed back then... that's... well... not good for anyone. But really now! Patrick's a good guy. It would take some determination to make an enemy out of him as he is now, unless you hurt or threaten someone he cares about. He's trying super hard to be as far removed as possible from who he was as Dino Wayland. If you push him into that corner where he has to revert back to that person, he will... but he's going to hate you for it.

There's a bit of reluctance here. Even if Patrick really likes a person and they've got the chemistry, there'd be a tiny, conflicted slice of conscience keeping him from allowing them to get "too close". If he were discovered by the Guild to be... y'know not dead, it probably wouldn't be the most ideal thing in the world to be a person he cares a lot for. To be his weak spot. (You've seen the movies, I'm sure.) But that said, there could still be something! Because this kind of personal conflict and him ignoring the pinpricks of worry even as he's happy with a person, is just..... kinda fun, right? Underlying conflict is fun! Give him a girlfriend, or even a boyfriend, maybe! Patrick's bisexual, but not openly, so there's even more tentativeness there. He knows he's bisexual, but it wouldn't be a simple thing for him to find the certainty to act on any same-sex attraction. No promises it would work out. It's not impossible, it just wouldn't be an easy, linear process.

ROGER MCCREADY

Twenty-seven year old breeder with an unhealthy dependency upon nicotine. A hardworking grump of a dude who sips coffee and whiskey all day and enjoys the simple things in life. He's a bit of a gruff, full of tough love, but cares about people and Pokemon alike. His parents are rich politicians whom he hates and has no contact with. He used to be an absolute 100% punk when he was younger, but was shipped off to his grandparents' ranch when he got in too much trouble and then inherited that ranch when they eventually passed. Wouldn't be too hard. Roger's a good guy (if you're not too thrown off by his general gruffness). Always open to drinking buddies, someone to play hockey with, or really... anything. Though he's not a guy known for any deep, perceptive prowess, he'd be a caring and good friend in his own way. If he likes you.

Roger doesn't enjoy complicating things with drama or unnecessary antics, so if you want to be enemies, it's going to be a very blunt and very stated thing. If there's a problem between him and another person, either he's not going to fuck with them or they're going to duke it out. And once it's done, it's done. He won't mention you again, and he's not going to check up on how you're doing in hopes that you're doing ill or anything like that. Gossip about you going around? He's not interested. When ties are cut, they're cut.

Romance is a bit of a weird thing for Roger. The relationship between his parents was incredibly superficial, and so he grew up putting a lot of weight in the "genuineness" of a relationship. He's very honest and open about what he's looking for (and what he's not looking for), and nothing will turn him off from a person more than them playing games or toying. He's not quick to fall in love and not quick to use words that he doesn't mean, which can leave fast-paced and hopeful girl/boyfriends a little wanting when it comes to affirmations of their relationship. The other person saying "I love you" too soon or too often can really put him in a strange state of mind, too, where he'll brood over whether or not they mean it. If it's "real" or if, like infatuation, it'll simply disappear one morning. [break][break]

He's not going to lead anyone on or leave them dangling, and too-often cuts them loose without really giving things much of a chance to grow/develop. And Roger is a hopeless guy when it comes to actually being romantic — the kind of person who has to Google gift ideas and asks his S/O outright what they're wanting for their birthday, rather than coming up with their own ideas and whatnot. But he's very direct when it comes to his feelings and won't leave thoughts unsaid.

• WHEN DOES THE LADY SING? - I won two tickets from a radio show. I have zero friends who are into opera. I'm not even sure that I'm into opera! I just called in because I knew the answer. I don't know you too well, but do you have plans Saturday? Some possible scenarios: a) Wtf weirdo, I don't go out with random strangers?? b ) Turns out neither of us are into opera, we bail twenty minutes into the show and get pizza. c) You like opera but it turns out I'm not into it, but I'm just gonna idly suffer through this three hours because it'd be rude to ditch you. Also, I had absolutely no idea you were supposed to dress up, holy shit, I'm wearing jeans?? d) I wasn't interested in going to the opera, but when I tried giving you both the tickets, you assumed I was asking you on a date, and shit, now I'm going on a date with you.
  
• BLAST FROM THE PAST - Roger used to be a punk. Like mohawk, studded leather jacket, doing drugs and trashing public places punk. Familiar face at the police station. Would get into all sorts of trouble as a sort of a bratty 'fuck you' to his parents. But he grew out of that quite a while ago. He moved out of the city to his grandparents' ranch, got a grocery store job, and worked the farm. Now he owns the ranch/farm and is a hardworking, firm, and respectful (but still pretty gruff) individual. He doesn't get into trouble anymore and isn't as wild. Nowadays if he saw his younger self — a little "tough as nails" punk trashing the cornerstore or smth — he'd probably smack himself upside the head and asked who raised him. [break][break]
  
  Now, the plot idea is. What if Roger ran into one of his past punk-mates? They're older now, late twenties, and Roger's got his ranch and his life worked out. But this guy/gal, they're still as wild and crazy as they were back then. They're still snorting drugs in the bathroom, being a shady deadbeat, whatever else. They meet in a bar or something and catch up. I can't imagine they'd get along as well as they did, because Roger doesn't like that shit anymore, but I could see Roger trying to get this guy/gal clean? Maybe they're in trouble? Roger gives them a place to crash at his ranch. Makes him pay this off by working on the farm? Helps them through the drug-withdrawal because he's been there and done it? [break][break]
  
  There could be all sorts of hiccups. Relapses. The guy/gal robs him and disappears for days at a time. They get in all sorts of fights. What-have-you. But Roger would end up caring about them quite a bit, despite being an intolerant asshole toward them at times. Wherever it goes, however their relationship grows, it could be an interesting plot-line. And if you don't like any of that, Roger can just meet one of his punk-mates in a bar, try to catch up, but not click anymore and end up beating the shit out of each other, lol.
